POP Alliance - Latest News

Recent History

Our group was formed in April 2010 when CRD Parks Committee at the March meeting indicated that the ban on Motorized Off-Road Vehicles (MORV) in Regional Parks might be rescinded. At the Regional Parks Committee meeting on 21 Apr a unanimous vote confirmed that the ban would remain in force.

Adding our voice on this issue to that of our member organizations proved effective, and founding members of POP realized that there are many other areas where an Alliance such as ours could assist in ensuring a bright future for our Regional Parks. You can read more about our aims, beliefs and activities here.

Our Mission

Provide a framework for outdoor and conservation organizations in the Capital Regional District to communicate with each other and to work with park management bodies in their joint efforts to preserve the environmental integrity of parks in the Victoria area and to promote appropriate recreational activities within them.

Our Structure

We intend that the POP Alliance will retain its loose, informal framework and see no need presently to adopt a more formal structure.

Reference Library

We are currently building a reference library designed to help educate us all on parks-related issues.

"Save the Sooke Hills" Project

All related information for this project been archived.

Check out the Summitpost.org web site and scroll down the page to watch a video illustrating the fragility of our parks, and why it is so important to preserve them.
